Safe Water Project Complete
The Olmsted Board of Directors is very pleased to announce that on Monday June 8, 2020 we received official word from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Safe Drinking Water, that Olmsted Manor Retreat Center has been released from the Boil Water Advisory that it has been operating under since August 10, 2019 when bacteria was found in the spring fed water source.
A new freshwater well was drilled, a new water distribution system was implemented throughout the campus, a water treatment building was built with disinfecting and purification equipment installed along with redundancy equipment for uninterruptable clean water supply. The springs that fed the Manor for over 100 years still flow through the property, but thanks to the new safe water facilities, Olmsted will not have to be concerned about having clean safe drinking water for the next 100 years.
