The Olmsted Safe Water Project
In the fall of 2019, Olmsted experienced a problem with bacteria found in the spring-fed water source that has supplied all of our water for more than 100 years. After much research and planning, a new well was drilled, all new supply lines were installed to all of the facilities, and a state of the art water treatment facility was built.
On June 8, 2020, after spending 304 days on a Boil Water Advisory, Olmsted once again was provided clean, safe water for all to enjoy. The total cost for the project was $530,000. A loan for $405,000 was acquired by Olmsted’s Board of Directors and the upfront expenses of $125,000 was taken care of thanks to generous contributors like you!
Because of you, we have now been able to pay the loan down to $350,000. This is an amazing achievement and we are following this progress with a goal of paying off the entire loan by December 31, 2023.
