Living the Kin-dom:
Exploring the Lord's Prayer as a Spiritual Practice for Social Transformation
Exploring the Lord's Prayer as a Spiritual Practice for Social Transformation
This study by Riva Tabelisma gives fresh eyes to the Lord's Prayer. Often learned by rote, the Lord's Prayer is a rich guide for how we can live out God's kin-dom in our lives. Tabelisma invites participants in this study to step away from our automatic recitation of the prayer and dive deep into the meaning of each line over the course of eight one-hour sessions. Each of the sessions examines a section of the Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6:9–13 as it is recorded in the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.
We will be collecting items for Ruth M Smith Center (info to follow) and will be doing a hands-on mission project.

Retreat Leader
Our study leader will be Diane Miller. For 22 years, Diane lived with her husband, John, at Olmsted Manor where she led retreats, presented mission programs, and interacted with adults seeking to grow spiritually and expand their understanding of mission. Diane has both taught at many conference Schools of Mission (Mission u) and has been a national trainer of teachers.
A life-long member of United Methodist Women (now United Women in Faith), Diane has held district offices, and has served as President and as Membership Nurture and Outreach Coordinator for the Conference.
During her seven years as the first Western Pennsylvania Conference Mission/VIM Coordinator, Diane spoke about mission in local churches, resourced and trained VIM leaders who set up Volunteer in Mission trips locally, nationally and internationally, and organized Conference Mission Trips for volunteers. She has led VIM and Disaster Response teams to many states and countries.
Diane is excited about leading the Mission u study on the Lord’s Prayer. For her, learning and meditating on this extraordinary prayer is a formational experience.
