Older Adults Retreat

We are excited to once again welcome the young-at-heart to Olmsted for a time of fellowship and renewal. Olmsted offers beautiful surroundings and comfortable accommodations for the perfect time away with peers. Join us as we celebrate positivity and abundant life. Bring your old friends (pun intended) and make some new ones along the way!

This year Rev. Jim Frazier will lead our older adults retreat. Participants can look forward to sessions including Finding God in Laughter, Finding God in Music, Finding God in Movies, and Finding God in Nature. Also enjoy opportunities for dancing, meditation, hiking, and games.

Rev. Jim Frazier was born and raised in Lexington Kentucky (so he is a Wildcat fan.) Jim is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Asbury Seminary. He is a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church.
Jim started the Leisure and Recreation Ministry at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL. In 1998, he was asked to design and build "The Lighthouse" Christian Life Center. The Lighthouse opened on August 20, 2000. Jim also brought Upward Sports and Mobile Recreation to the Vestavia community. In 2013, Jim moved into a pastoral role working with senior adults and starting the Boomer Ministry.
​Jim plays the guitar and has recorded several children's CDs as well as an original CD on the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. He has been married to Rhonda for 34 years. They have a daughter Ashley and a son Jared, as well as three grand children.

  • Event begins with dinner on Tuesday, March 29 and concludes with lunch on Thursday, March 31. Check-in is in Groves Lodge between 3 and 5pm on Tuesday.
  • Pricing includes two-nights stay (private hotel style room with linens), six meals, and course tuition. Discount available for those willing to select or be assigned a roommate.
