Come away and attend to your mental, emotional, and spiritual health - you deserve it!

Retreat Leader

Celeste Eubanks

Picture
Deaconess Celeste Eubanks is an esteemed leader in the United Methodist Church with a rich background in both business and ministry. As the Director of the Candler Center for Christian Leadership at Emory University's Candler School of Theology, she plays a pivotal role in shaping and guiding future leaders in Christian ministry.
Celeste's journey began in her hometown of Slidell, LA, where she was nurtured in the Christian faith at Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church. She pursued higher education at the University of Southern Mississippi, earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and later obtained a Master's degree in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.
Her professional career started as a software developer in Mobile, AL, before she transitioned into a human resources manager role and became deeply involved in church life at Toulminville-Warren St. United Methodist Church and later at St. John United Methodist Church. It was through her experiences there that Celeste felt a calling to ministry, which led to her consecration as a Deaconess in May 2018 during the United Methodist Women’s Assembly in Columbus, OH.
In addition to her role at the Candler Center for Christian Leadership, Celeste is actively engaged in various leadership capacities. She was a delegate to the 2020 General Conference held in 2024, a member of the Alabama-West Florida Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and serves on the Tuskegee Wesley Foundation Board. Celeste is also a certified on-boarding facilitator for The United Methodist Church, helping to integrate new leaders into the denomination, and sits on the Board of Directors for Wespath Benefits and Investments.
Currently residing in Atlanta, GA, Celeste continues to contribute significantly to her faith community and the broader church through her diverse roles and deep commitment to service, justice, and leadership.
