Wedding policies
The grounds fee for weddings is for “outdoor grounds use only” in a specified area. Olmsted Manor does not provide seating, tables, tents, etc.
Guests are responsible for alternate areas for wedding in case of inclement weather.
Receptions must be arranged elsewhere.
The person making the arrangements with Olmsted Manor is responsible for advising their wedding party, florist, decorator, photographer, and videographer of the following guidelines & policies. It is that person’s responsibility to be sure that they adhere to these norms.
The person making the arrangements are also responsible for notifying the wedding party to respect the privacy and peace of any other guests who may be here on retreat
Due to the traditions of the United Methodist Church, Olmsted Manor appreciates no tobacco, alcohol or illegal drug use; thus meaning that no one is to bring any of these substances onto the property or be on the property while under the influence of them. The use of such substances will forfeit your right to use Olmsted Manor grounds & facilities.
Olmsted Manor is a sacred space to the guests that come here. An atmosphere of reverence and respect must be maintained at all times. Loud talking & boisterous behavior are unacceptable at any time. Your decision to be married on the grounds or in the buildings of Olmsted Manor means that you are on “holy ground” treating it as such.
Children are to be supervised at all times
No nails, thumb tacks, scotch tape, etc are to be used on any surfaces. Masking tape and/or removable tape are suggested and may be used.
Electric source can be arranged if advance notice is given.
Only non-drip candles are to be used and should never be left unattended.
Rice/Confetti/Helium Balloons/Flower Petals are not permitted inside or outside of the buildings because these items create safety & maintenance problems. Bird seed is suggested for outdoor use and is preferred environmentally.
Please delegate a friend or relative to clean up the buildings and/or grounds used immediately following the wedding unless other arrangements have been made.
Outdoor ornamentation such as arches or trellises are not permitted because of the integrity of the space.
Setting up tents is permissible but the location must be discussed about in advance.
The person making the arrangements is responsible for the departure of those at the rehearsal and wedding immediately following them.
If a room/space is needed for preparation of the wedding, arrangements must be made in advance (at additional cost.)
The advance deposit is not refundable. If you cancel the wedding, the amount paid will be converted to a tax-deductible contribution.
The bride & groom are responsible for meeting with the Executive Director at least 2 months before the scheduled event to discuss their plans.
The front desk is regularly staffed Mon-Fri 9-5pm. (Group is responsible for directing guests to appropriate locations) unless otherwise discussed with the reservationist.
WEDDING PREPARATION ROOMS
· Rooms for wedding preparation are available (at additional cost) by reservation depending on availability. The cost per room for the day is the same as the overnight rate for 1 person.
RESIDENTIAL POLICIES
· The person who setup the wedding reservation is responsible for making arrangements for anyone requiring overnight lodging (if available) and for collecting or paying their lodging and cancellation fees if applicable.
· Olmsted Manor will hold the reservations for 2 weeks without a deposit
· The balance remaining is due before departure (Check or Cash Only / Credit cards not accepted).
· We reserve the number of rooms according to the number of guests you made the reservation for.
· Before you increase your original reservation numbers, please call us to check on available space.
· Confirm reservation 45 days before the retreat date.
· Cancellations of residential guests after the confirmation date will surrender the $15 per person deposit to Olmsted Manor.
