Grounds Use Guidelines & Policies

Weddings

  Wedding policies

As a Retreat Center Olmsted is primarily concerned with the mission of serving those who are seeking our special retreat environment.  Wedding facilitation must be done without interfering with that mission. Olmsted is a very special place for our guests and our staff. Our goal is to honor this sacred space and also to guard the historical integrity and the natural environment as much as possible.  With that in mind we have developed guidelines for those who would like to use the Olmsted property for weddings.  If you are planning a wedding, please take some time to review our policies.

Regulations Concerning Weddings on Olmsted Property

The persons making the arrangements with Olmsted Manor are responsible for advising their wedding party, florist, decorator, photographer, and videographer of the following guidelines & policies.  It is that person’s responsibility to be sure that they adhere to these norms.

Olmsted Manor does not host or hold wedding receptions at our facility.

The persons making the arrangements are also responsible for notifying the wedding party to respect the privacy and peace of any other guests who may be here on retreat.

Olmsted Manor appreciates no tobacco, alcohol or illegal drug use; consequently no one is to bring any of these substances onto the property or be on the property while under the influence of them. The use of such substances will forfeit your right to use Olmsted Manor grounds & facilities.

Olmsted Manor is a sacred space for the guests who come here. An atmosphere of reverence and respect must be maintained at all times.  Loud talking & boisterous behavior are discouraged at any time.  Your permission to be married on the grounds of Olmsted Manor means that you are on “holy ground” and treating it as such.

Children are to be supervised at all times.   No nails, thumb tacks, scotch tape, etc are to be used on any surfaces. Masking tape and/or removable tape are suggested and may be used.

Please delegate a friend or relative to clean up the buildings and/or grounds used immediately following the wedding unless other arrangements have been made.   The person making the arrangements is responsible for the departure of those at the rehearsal and wedding immediately following them.    If a room/space is needed for preparation of the wedding, arrangements must be made in advance (at an additional cost.)

The advance deposit is not refundable.  If you cancel the wedding, the amount paid will be converted to a tax-deductible contribution.

The bride & groom are responsible for meeting with the Executive Director at least 2 months before the scheduled event to discuss their plans.

The front desk is regularly staffed Mon-Fri 9-5pm.  (Group is responsible for directing guests to appropriate locations) unless otherwise discussed with the reservationist.
