Wesley’s Rule of Life
2008 Wesley Event with Dr. Michael Cartwright
May 5-7, 2008
Rueben Job, retired United Methodist Bishop, has published
Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living
(United Methodist Publishing House). This
little book calls the church to remain deeply committed to living
out and discovering a distinctive Wesleyan way of life.
Led by Dr. Michael G. Cartwright, this retreat will
explore how John Wesley's General Rules might function in our life
together as a ‘rule of life’ for spiritual formation for clergy and
laity alike. We will discover the significance of a Wesleyan way of
life in the history of Christian Spirituality and discuss ways of
both loving God and remaining accountable to God's holy ordinances.
Dr. Cartwright is Dean for Ecumenical & Interfaith Programs at the
University of Indianapolis. Before his position in Indianapolis,
Dr. Cartwright served on the faculty of Allegheny College
