An Olmsted Moment |

January 2011
To Serve or Not to Serve... Sue Answers the Question! Does anybody wonder what goes on at Olmsted this time of year? Well, there is always something going on at Olmsted... To start off the New Year we had a food service department training session. Sue Aul, our food service supervisor planned and taught the class for our kitchen staff. There were 10 staff members who sat in on the class, including me. The course entitled; "To serve or not to serve," included instruction on special diets. It covered topics on gluten free, vegetarian and vegan, soy free, lactose intolerance, sulfite, and diabetic diets. A very informative power point presentation was given and was followed by a lively discussion and question and answer time. The information presented raised awareness and included a great deal of information we often take for granted. The staff also had a refresher course on kitchen cleanliness and other food service procedures. Sue prepared light refreshments for everyone to enjoy. The wellbeing of our guests is paramount to our mission in ministry her at Olmsted. This training is a good example of our staff's commitment to quality and hospitality as we begin another years of retreat ministry. Jody
