The following is the Clergy Continuing
Education and Formation Committee’s (CCEF) policy regarding clergy
continuing education and formation events. All listed events are
suggestions only, and we stress that the taking of education events are
to be part of the three way covenant between clergy, Pastor/Parish
Relations Committee, and District Superintendent. It is within this
covenantal context, that CEU events are to be identified, recommended,
and accounted for. CEU credit is confirmed by one’s District
Superintendent, in consultation with the clergyperson.
The Clergy Continuing Education and Formation Committee (CCEF) event
website, currently managed by the staff of Olmsted Manor, is an
information resource and includes events that are:
a) WPACUMC mandated clergy seminars
b) Continuing Formation seminars offered by accredited College,
University, or Seminary
c) Nationally recognized ministries (i.e. Saddleback, Alban Institute,
Willow Creek, Billy Graham)
d) UM Denominational offerings
e) Events sponsored by WPAUMC Agencies (i.e. sponsored workshops,
retreats, academies)
f) Retreats/formation events sponsored by Olmsted Manor and other
WPAUMC Camp/Retreat Centers which offer CEUs
g) Events by nationally accredited professional organizations which
cross-over for clergy (i.e. grief work, family dynamics, counseling)
h)
Workshops, seminars, teaching events that have received a written
recommendation from a District Superintendent. These events will then
be reviewed and confirmed by the Clergy Continuing Education and
Formation Committee (CCEF) before being posted.
