About Us

Who makes the work of Olmsted Manor possible?

From the kitchen to the gardens, the Olmsted experience is enhanced by the many hands that work behind the scenes.  Our staff, the board, visitors and supporters all contribute to Olmsted's mission:

 " . . .a retreat center providing renewal within a sacred space

and an atmosphere of Christian hospitality."

The Olmsted staff is headed up by Jody Larson, Executive Director, (see Impressions) and includes those who work in the kitchen, on the cleaning crew, the facilities management, summer workers, and the office staff.

Our 2007 Board of Directors is a 22 member board.  Meeting as a full board four times a year, and more often in committees, these people help steer the programs, brainstorm new directions and seek to grow, enhance and preserve the mission of Olmsted Manor.  The members serve four year terms and work on various committees in their areas of interest and expertise including: Finance, Programming, Property, Personnel and Marketing.  Members of the current Board of Directors of Olmsted Manor are: Donna Atwell, Mike Baker, Tom Burkett, Thomas Chacko, Burl Davis, Pam Gardner, Debra Flint, Ron Hoellein (Chair), Kane District Superintendent Bob Higginbotham, Aaron Kerr, Chris Kindle, Mike Milinovich, Louwana Mock, George Porter, Sarah Roncolato, Sharon Schwab, David Streets, Brenda Thompson, Steven Tuell, Jim Willats, Sue Wilson, and Doug Zaffino.

Olmsted has been blessed with a history of people who have taken a strong and heartfelt interest in the work of Olmsted Manor Retreat Center.  Volunteers have helped in many different areas of service.  The spirit of 'giving back' reflects the history of this place.  Recently Olmsted has co-chartered a boy scout troop, continuing an interest begun in the days of George Olmsted.
